DATA
Structured data for the global aviation system.
WAIS develops structured datasets describing airports, airlines, traffic, networks and their relationships within the global aviation system.
WAIS DATA
WAIS data provide a structured representation of the global aviation system. Airports, airlines, traffic, networks, geographic structures and operational relationships are organized within a common data framework, allowing information from different parts of the aviation system to be analysed consistently.
AIRPORT DATA
WAIS integrates airport identity, location, traffic, classification, network and system-level information within a common airport data structure. This allows individual airports to be examined both as independent entities and as components of larger aviation systems.
IDENTITY & GEOGRAPHY
Airport codes, official names, locations, coordinates and geographic regions.
TRAFFIC & NETWORKS
Passenger traffic, aircraft movements, destinations, countries served and airline presence.
CLASSIFICATION & SYSTEMS
Functional and national classifications, airport roles and membership in multi-airport systems.
AIRLINE DATA
WAIS organizes airline information around consistent airline identities and their relationships with airports and networks. The data structure distinguishes airlines from brands, divisions and subsidiaries while preserving documented operating and organizational relationships.
IDENTITY & CODES
Canonical airline names, IATA and ICAO codes, countries and airline types.
NETWORKS & OPERATIONS
Passenger and cargo operations, destinations and airline presence across airports and regions.
ORGANIZATION & ROLES
Parent, division, subsidiary and brand relationships, together with documented hub, base, focus-city and other airport roles.

DATA STRUCTURE & DEFINITIONS
WAIS uses consistent definitions, identifiers and data structures to support comparison across airports, airlines, countries and regions. Each data field is defined according to its analytical purpose, source type and level of precision.
DEFINITIONS
Standardized definitions establish what each WAIS variable represents and how it should be interpreted.
SOURCES
Data are compiled from official authorities, airport and airline sources, industry datasets and other documented reference sources.
DATA QUALITY
Source provenance, reporting periods, precision and estimation status are recorded where relevant to support transparent interpretation of the data.
DATA ACCESS
WAIS provides different levels of access to its data and publications. Selected reference information and public editions are available openly, while complete publications and extended datasets are available through the WAIS Store.
OPEN ACCESS
Public editions, selected reference data and other resources available without charge.
COMPLETE PUBLICATIONS
Full editions of selected WAIS publications providing complete rankings, analysis, maps and reference material.
EXTENDED DATASETS
Structured datasets accompanying selected WAIS publications, providing access to the underlying data for research and professional use.
