World Airports Ranking 2025 provides a global reference to major passenger airports based on full-year 2025 traffic data. The publication covers 951 airports handling more than one million passengers annually, organized within a consistent geographic framework of 11 world regions.
The ranking extends beyond individual airports by incorporating 76 multi-airport systems, allowing major metropolitan aviation markets to be examined alongside individual airport rankings. The WAIS 003 Dataset provides structured airport-level data accompanying the World Airports Ranking 2025. Designed for comparative research and analysis, it brings together traffic, airport activity, connectivity and metropolitan-system indicators for the 951 airports included in the WAIS global ranking.
Connectivity and airline data are provided as standardized quantitative indicators. Detailed destination and airline lists are reserved for the WAIS World Airport Atlas.
DATASET CONTENT
AIRPORT IDENTITY & GEOGRAPHY
Airport name, city, IATA and ICAO codes, country, WAIS world region, geographic coordinates and core reference identifiers.
PASSENGER TRAFFIC & RANKING
CY2025 passenger traffic, global and regional ranking information, together with the status and classification of reported traffic values.
AIRCRAFT MOVEMENTS
CY2025 aircraft movements and associated movement-data status.
CONNECTIVITY
Numbers of passenger and cargo destinations, total destinations, domestic and international destinations, seasonal destinations and countries served.
AIRLINE PRESENCE
Numbers of passenger and cargo airlines serving each airport and total airline count.
MULTI-AIRPORT SYSTEMS
Membership in WAIS Multi-Airport Systems, system identifiers and metropolitan airport roles, including PMG, AMG and MSR.
